Over the past four decades, we've grown our hospital as well as our commitment to the Richmond and central Virginia communities. Our Mission includes an unwavering commitment to help bring people and communities to health and wholeness as part of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.

A commitment to growth and compassionate care

We're dedicated to growing the St. Mary's Hospital Campus responsibly over time with input from patients, neighbors, employees and visitors. A key tenant of our health system's Mission is a commitment to compassionate care — and that compassion extends to our neighbors and our environment.

An innovative approach to planning

That's why, this fall, we're actively planning for the future of St. Mary's Hospital through a week-long planning session called a Charrette. The Charrette involves a holistic, collaborative planning process that harnesses the talents and energies of all interested parties to create and support a long-term vision of our facility. The Charrette concept in hospital planning is unique, but it is not our first experience with the process. In January 2009, we held a Charrette to develop a master site plan for St. Francis Medical Center in Chesterfield County. The end result was a beautiful scenario of what St. Francis can be for patients, visitors and the entire community.
