Pediatrics: Providing excellent care for your children
At St. Mary's Hospital, we offer full-scale children's health services including a children's emergency center, pediatric unit and pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Both pediatric units are locked areas, kept secure at all times and staffed with nurses trained to treat young patients.
The PICU is an eight-bed unit staffed by intensivists, physicians specially trained in critical care. A national shortage of intensivists makes it imperative that parents pay attention to PICU staffing. Critically ill and injured children from newborns to young adults are cared for in this advanced unit.
Our focus is the health of the children we care for, but we make every effort to accommodate parents by providing overnight cots, beverages and snacks.
